Orange: Our beautiful town

Orange: Our beautiful town

On a recent visit to a well-known wine region we were impressed with the wines, the cellar doors and the warm welcomes of the owners. But the nearest town was a little, how should I put it, unremarkable.

It made me think of how lucky our wine region is to have the beautiful town of Orange as its heart. Visitors are often surprised by how striking Orange is – old historic buildings, beautiful parks and wide tree-lined streets. And it helps that the weather is stunning - with the blaze of colour in autumn, beautiful flowers in spring, warm and sunny days in summer, and if we are lucky, snow in winter!

Stylish accommodation

There is a wide range of accommodation in Orange to suit all tastes and budgets.

Byng St Hotel is a boutique hotel that is a centrally located in a beautifully renovated historical homestead. 15 minutes out of town you will find Basalt, featuring luxury studio accommodation located on a family-owned cherry orchard. De Russie is another fantastic option, as suites have fully-equipped kitchenettes, making this place perfect for a family getaway.

Great cafes

It's hard to find a bad coffee in Orange!

At Good Eddy, friendly staff serve up stellar coffee alongside classic café staples such as bacon and egg rolls, pastries and possibly the best ham and cheese toastie we've ever tasted.

Byng St Cafe is a family-friendly cafe is located in a gorgeous renovated house on Byng St and the perfect place to start your day with freshly squeezed juice, baked goods and sandwiches.

Groundstone is located within the Orange Regional Museum, and next to the Orange Regional Gallery, making it the perfect spot to grab some breakfast or lunch before checking out the latest exhibition. Plus there is plenty of seating outside if you bring your pooch!

Legendary food scene

If you love good food as much as we do, you must check out Hey Rosey. The standard of food they pump out of their teeny tiny kitchen is second to none! The menu is constantly changing and always amazing.

The new kid on the block in Orange is Lucetta and the food looks stunning! Enjoy locally sourced Italian dishes paired with a delicious wine for the perfect date night.

And no food roundup is completely without the Union Bank Hotel for stunning modern Australian cuisine. We can't go past the sirloin steak with miso and the potato scallops!
